About Property Bonds

A property bond allows a defendant or their family to use real estate equity as collateral to secure a bail bond. Instead of paying a cash premium, the property owner signs a deed of trust in favor of the court for the full bail amount. Property bonds are typically used for very high bail amounts where the 10% cash premium would be prohibitively expensive. Rescue Bail Bonds works with licensed real estate professionals to process property bonds efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

The property's equity (market value minus any outstanding mortgages or liens) must equal or exceed the full bail amount. The court will order an appraisal to verify the property's value.

Property bonds typically take 1–3 business days because they require court approval, a property appraisal, and title search. They are not suitable for situations requiring immediate release.

If the defendant fails to appear in court and the bail is forfeited, the court can initiate foreclosure proceedings on the property used as collateral. This is a serious risk that co-signers should carefully consider.
